Bill Kelly - 'Peace or War: The Big Picture'
We recently worked with Bill Kelly on the printing of his large scale work - Peace or War: The Big Picture. The 12 metre long work is comprised of a collage of hand drawn imagery interspersed with typographical elements. Produced as part of Bill's Creative Fellowship at the State Library of Victoria, it was exhibited at the State Library's Dome Reading Room - spanned over 3 stories in late 2016.
This print was the largest single print we have ever worked on - 162.5cm wide by 12.5 metres in length. The print used an entire roll of Hahnemuhle paper stock from end to end, a further 5 metres of paper was spliced to the beginning to aid installation and enabled the print to project forward in the space clear of the architecture.
Our studio was temporarily reconfigured for the production of this work, a 12 metre long bench was setup to keep the print level and supported ensuring accurate tracking and lowering the risk of image skew. We had just recently installed our new Epson 20700 and this provided a perfect test for the printer, which handled the task seamlessly.
